Family Gathering  60cm x 60cm 2020  Made during lockdown, ‘Family Gathering’ is about love. The cherry is a symbol of love and protection. In folklore, cherry trees are thought to protect against thunderstorms and other natural disasters. The cherry tree is also associated with the concept of the afterlife. Its deep roots are said to reach into the underworld and eating cherries is said to enable us to communicate with the dead. The piece is inspired by cathedral Rose Windows and could be viewed any way up.     Detail
